Evening appointments for breastfeeding support may be arranged by calling 775.720.4625 and leaving a message on the voice mail.

About Our Practice Arrangements

Nevada law requires that advanced practice nurses have collaborating physicians in their
specialty in order to provide services. Currently Melinda is working with Dr. David
Hoskins, a family physician, as her collaborating physician.  This allows her to offer well-
woman care, primary health care and newborn care and breastfeeding support.

Melinda is unable to offer full-scope midwifery care at this time.  This means that any
pregnancy related care is unavailable until such time as a local obstetrician agrees to form a
collaborative relationship.  Currently the obstetricians at Carson Tahoe Hospital have
declined to negotiate such a relationship.

Melinda is currently employed as an Assistant Professor at Orvis School of Nursing, UNR.  
During the Spring Semester 2006 her office hours at A Nurturing Space are restricted to
Tuesdays.

Services We Provide

		Well-woman care including annual exam and pap smear
		Pre-conceptual counseling (planning and preparing to become pregnant)
		STD testing and treatment, counseling and education on STD avoidance
		Family planning services including, education and counseling about various
		hormonal and non-hormonal methods of contraception
		Peri-menopausal and menopausal care
		Breastfeeding education, evaluation and management of difficulties encountered with
		breastfeeding
